Snow Snow and more Snow!!!!

Here in Maryland we are getting hit hard with the white stuff. We have barely dug out from the weekend storm ...... and today we are set to get hit again with another 12-18 inches!!!! Crazy!!


My boys proudly display their under snow hide out. You can not see the entry , but they worked very hard to dig this. Good job fellas!

This is a view from my basement door ....... I can not imagine what it will look like in the morning! I went to the grocery store yet again to stock up. I think the kids will be out of school for this week...... too bad they will have no spring break left! My son's winter boot ripped apart at the heel, poor guy. Do you think I could find a pair of snow boots???? Of course not! So we are using our resources...... duck tape!

Turns out I do not have a cold....... it is a combination of my reflux and allergies. They seem to be doing a number on my lungs and voice!!!!

What have I been up to.......

Well, aside from trying to get over this annoying cold ( not enough to keep me down , just enough to make it difficult!!!) I made over an antique dresser. It was in my apartment in college and I left my more modern dresser behind in exchange for this one. It used to have an old mirror attached however during many moves , it got destroyed. It was originally a dark oak color. I found it with a teal blue antique finish over the top. I have since put a white wash over it, and just recently added the draw fronts.



What do you think? I found the knobs at Micheal's for $1 each. They are soooo cute. I think it goes well with my window picture frame.

Some work in progress...... I was itching to do some more dimensional work.

I scanned a bunch of my vintage papers and then inverted the colors. I love the results.

It looks like 6 more weeks of winter......... and we have snow on the way.

Thoughts......

Something stuck me yesterday , and I can not seem to get it out of my head. I was talking with someone about art and they had mentioned that their mother was an artist " you know a real artist, she makes $40,000 for her work ". I was struck by a few things. Do we measure an artist by how much money they make for their work or by the content and process?

As artist , we are constantly questioning are method and validity....... how can we not? Does success mean we must get our work to that high price tag ( which I surely hope to never see, my god!!! ) or is it knowing that someone else has found a connection to what it is you have worked so hard at making?

It is so strange the perception that people have around what "Art " really is and what makes you a real artist . I do not have a studio per say and I do not sell my work for large amounts of money and yes I do find inspiration in the simplest of things....... but I feel that in my heart I live my truth and hope that somehow that translates ..... it is real ......... and sometimes it is art.
