A few things........

My boys have shared a room since they were little tiny things. We have always asked if they want their own rooms and the answer has always been No. Now that they are getting older and need their own space....... we did the big switch . My youngest moved into his own room. They were excited but a bit unsure at first. Now 3 days into it , they really love it. It is weird for me and a bit bitter sweet. A change always signifies that they are growing up..... my heart is still a bit heavy.


I have been eyeing this table at a favorite antique spot for some time. I just love the color and the fact that I can fold it down if need be is perfect!



I am hoping that no one else will notice it under all this junk!

Wouldn't a set of these chairs look great around it!

I also found these vintage receipts. Could you believe that they were selling all of these for just $.50. I bought $2 worth.

Busy ...busy.... busy....

Well, I am a busy girl today. I have a list of things to do and places to be! We are expecting snow tonight so it could be a 4 day weekend for my boys...... at least we would get to sleep in!!!

I just finished ordering my New Years cards. I am very late this year and realized that I missed the Christmas card window...... so I better get these off soon, or I will have to re-do them and make them " Happy Spring " cards! Anyone else feeling a bit behind???

A new windy tree for a very cold day.....

As promised, here is a look at something new. I used polka dot tissue over my vintage music sheets.... I love translucent layers.

A gift for me......

I wait to get my Christmas presents after the Holiday...... usually I get money or gift cards , so I love when the dust settles a bit and I am able to shop for myself . I am thrifty and love love love a bargain. I never pay full price for anything and often see things and wonder how I could do them myself.

So , I found a ton of sites on etsy that sell burlap bags. Now I just fell in love with this very worn coffee bean bag , however I worried about the age and dirty factor. So I went with this rice bag. Although it is fairly new, I love the color. It is the perfect size for a little pillow form ( that I just happened to have ). The great thing is that on the back side is a zipper so ..... no sew!!! Total price including shipping $4 ....... the cost of my heart smiling $ priceless ! I ordered a bunch of vintage paper and such that should arrive soon , so I anticipate a lot of busy work ahead of me.

I love collecting and have so many vintage papers that I do not use , so I am thinking of opening an etsy shop for my vintage paper finds. I am still mulling it over so, who knows.

I have a few new pieces in the works and will show you something new very soon.

Happy New Year!!!!

Well the time has come...... I can not believe that another year has flown by me! I want to wish everyone a great , happy and safe New Year!!!!


I am not making any major resolutions..... just a promise to myself to try new things and not be so focused on disappointment. Things are not always as they seem and sometimes what things are not ....... make them more beautiful.

An old friend.....

Due to my children starting Christmas break early ( snowstorm cancelled the last 3 days of school before Christmas break!), I have been working on little no brainer projects. So here are a few that I will have in my shop later today.

I was a bit panicked about starting Christmas break early..... what to do to fill the boys days before Christmas .Their excitement is spilling out of them and often resulting in massive fights and feelings getting hurt. This morning I was getting some laundry together when my youngest asked my oldest " Hey , you want to build a Thomas track with me?"........ well Thomas is an old dear friend whom I just can not get rid of. I have him and all his friends packed neatly away in the back of the closet.

I had to contain my OCD knowing that all the well organized tracks would be a big heap of craziness...... and my heart tickled a bit knowing that although they are big , they are still my little guys. They worked together and built their track..... it took up the entire room ( really my youngest room however we have not made the big switch with their beds). Now remember they are 9.5 and 7 so they played a bit differently ...... Thomas was not your average "useful engine" as the story would have him..... instead the trains were involved in a battle with their army planes. I can not complain, I did laundry, had coffee and took a shower without a fight breaking out. Now the afternoon could be different , but for now ...... bliss!

It is almost here......

Can you believe it??? We have just had a huge snow storm and it looks like it will be sticking around for a while. I like having snow on the ground for Christmas. The boys have certainly enjoyed it.

I have been trying to catch all my favorite Holiday shows before Christmas. I love all the classic kid shows but I have my few Modern favorites as well. I just finished "The family stone" for the 2nd time this season. I just love it. It has a good balance of happy yet sad. I am that kinda gal. I like the joy of the season, but somehow there is always a bit of sorrow deep down. It is like the Judy Garland rendition of " Have yourself a Merry little Christmas". Just a touch of melancholy. Not enough to overpower the Merriment, just enough to appreciate what we all still might have around us.
