A day for reorganizing

Well, after 2 days home , the kids are back in school. I felt the need to be productive.
I started with the boys room. I re-organized their bookshelf and toy shelf. I have 3 bags for
donation and 1 for trash. I feel like I have accomplished something today!!!


Next I will clean and reorganize my studio space ( I am laughing because it is just a closet in my
kids playroom!!) . The closet works great because I can close it when I do not want to see the mess, and all my things are out of reach for the kids. I do want to paint and add lights and make it a bit more manageable. If and when I finish , I will show you pics.

A new little chair.....

This is another itty bitty Valentiny collage ( 2.5 x 3 ) I have the cutest little easel for it.

I felt the need to do another chair piece. My house is so neutral you would never know that I love color. I like to do these little rooms because in my dreams I am there. I love the blue in this piece . I did a paper swap with another artist and she gave me this wonderful handmade blue paper. I had the background finished for almost a year but did not know what to do with it. I think it knew that the right paper and composition would come in time. Sometimes I do not always know this ........ funny how these things work . This will be in my shop tomorrow.

It is cold and snowy here in Maryland. The kids had another day off ( I love em but I need them to get back to school!!!) . My littlest is at a Friends and this is his first "playdate" without Mommy. He has been to a good friends before without me , however he has known them since he was 6 mos. old. So far, no phone calls ...... my how they are growing.

Let me tell you about my Saturday!!!!

This is how it goes:


8:00 Wake up ( yes I did sleep in a bit, its Saturday!)

8:30 make cupcakes ( I needed time to drink my coffee. Why cupcakes??
My kids have tons of Food allergies and had 2 parties to
attend.)


9:00 Make breakfast, get dressed , clean up breakfast , get the boys dressed


10:15 Pinewood Derby car weigh in ( my son has his Scout Pinewood derby race
tomorrow)


11:00 Off to Target with the boys to buy 2 gifts for B-days ( We left with 4 presents, you figure
out who got the extra 2. Moms, do not take kids to Target
to buy B-day gifts.......... go alone!)


11:40 Go to grocery store ( I have no food in the house!)


noon eat a quick bowl of soup , wrap gifts

12:40 Take 1 child to Laser Tag Party ( crazzzzzy ! Stayed to help supervise!!)

3:30 Drop 1 child off at Friends, pick another child up for Party #2 !

4:00 Party # 2 for 5 yr.olds ( crazier than 1st party. Stayed because did not know parents.
Glad I stayed but wished I did not have too! )

6:30 Arrive home in much need of coffee.

7:30 coffee , kids playing video games .......

8:00 A moment to breathe!

Mini collages.......

We finally got our first snow and the boys were soooo excited. Harrison is my oldest.

Reese ( aka Reesie ) was working so hard to make the biggest pile of snow ( we only got 1.2 "!)

They are too funny!!!!

I just put these in the shop..... I think I am going to do some more like this. I had fun!!!

A historical day......

I live a mere 45 minute drive from D.C. and rather than brave the massive crowds and cold.... I watched from a Friends house. We had all the children gathered around and although they might not have realized today.... they witnessed history. A day to remember.

Hmmmm ......

This is a new piece . It is a 5x5 collage on canvas.

Here is something new...... it is a little 5x5 collage on canvas. , I love the subtle colors. I am trying to work on branching out into feeling secure with more subtle color schemes.

*** Notice I just figured out how to insert text directly under my photo. Now I might have done something wrong. My computer keeps telling me that I have low disc space..... so it asked me about deleting unused files.............hmmmm so I did and now I can not hear the music on my blog or any other blog. This might take sometime to figure out what I did and how I can undo it.

Any thoughts on what I need to do..........

New work....

I just finished these ....... I know that atleast one is going to a gallery in Florida. The other I will post on etsy tomorrow. I will have more for my etsy store by the end of the week..... I promise!!

Time for footy PJ's.....

It is sooooo cold here in Maryland. We broke out the footy PJ's for the boys. I love them, it reminds me when they were little and you could hear the little shuffle of their feet on the floor.

I made little clay impressions of the boys hands and my youngest said " Mommy when you put them together upside down , it makes a heart!". How clever!

I hope to have some new things to show you this weekend.

Hmmmm.... 8yr. old boys and art???

Well, I volunteered myself to be in charge of the service project for my son's cub scout troop. We were making Valentines cards for the recipients of the meals on wheels program . They will get their card with their Valentines meal. I thought that I would do something easy like a collage heart. Very generic , nothing the boys could make inappropriate ( yes they are 8 and they are crazy wild at the meetings!!!).

Well............ they had more fun tearing up papers and somehow this kind sweet gesture became one of dinosaur ripping crazy destructive mayhem! In the end the cards looked very cute and still sweet. The people receiving them will never have to know how the process worked .

I will never again volunteer for a pack of wild 8 yr. old crazy little wolf cubs!!! Now I am saying this fresh off the experience....... I am a mom and yes I will be at the next meeting pencil in hand ready to do what I can for my son. Everyday has a chance to be brighter until the light fades ......

Can you hear it???

I have added music.... and it was easy. I can cross something off my list Hooray!!!

At last some new work.....

I just finished this one. It is actually a 10x10 collage on canvas. Even though I used some familiar imagery.... I stepped out of my box a tinsy bit. I am working on another collage that I should finish tomorrow ( Thursday). I will show you when I am done. I am really excited about that one as well. I will have this as well as my other one posted in my shop on Friday.... finally I can dust off my etsy shelves !!!! It is nice to get excited about working again.....

New Music...

I am still not as technically savvy as some of my other blogger friends. I go to the blogs and hear great music and see links and such..... one day. In fact I am going to dedicate January ( maybe February too) as my get my blog together month.

This is my intention not my promise. I will do my best. I do want to tell you that my husband got me the new CD from the Killers and Cold Play. I just love them ! The Killers remind me of my old new wave , pretty in pink days! Ahhhh those were the days. Anyway, if I were savvy in technology.... you might be hearing their songs or at least see a link to a site. Sorry. The month has just begun.

New work...

These are two mini collages...... I think they are 5x5 in size. They would be so cute on a little easel. I have been in a bird kinda mood . I go through cycles with my work. I do a bunch of tree collages, then houses, birds..... and a few rooms and chairs here and there. I am working on an abstract piece...... I am intending this to be for my own home but we will see.

I have all of my linoleum blocks and carving materials ready to start making my print blocks. I love printmaking. I took classes in college and really loved it. I have wanted to try it again, but something always got in the way..... so now that I mentioned it on my post I must follow thru right!!!!

Today is filled with play dates, grocery shopping, laundry, and I plan on squeezing in alot of studio time even if it has to be when all others are asleep!!!
