The number 6......

I just found this beautiful #6 in an etsy shop Vantagestudios . I am not sure where my obsession with numbers and letters came from.

It has become quite the OCD kinda thing. I have always had a weird thing with numbers. For instance , my name before being married was completely even ( I have a thing for even things).
First name 8, middle 4, last 8. I like even numbers and will change things to make them even often. I also associate colors with numbers. Although I love this 6.... it should be in a cool color. Even numbers are cool and odd are warm. That is not to say that a cool red can be even and a warm blue odd. Find this weird yet?? I also do the same thing with the alphabet, however it makes no rhythmic sense. A is even and cool but so is B and C is odd go figure.
In any case. I am trying to break this little confining and sometimes annoying cycle.... so I might just have to buy this #6 in its glorious orange hue after all.

What I am doing now.....

I am teaching a class in March on linocut prints . I thought it might be a neat spin to print on plates ..... I have been trying it out and this is what I came up with.

I will have them print on paper also, but I wanted to give them options.

and, I just painted my bathroom a bright medium dark blue..... so I thought it needed a bright green collage as well.

I love encaustic......

I love encaustic work , and I really love the work from Cathy Nichols. She has a great sense of color and still uses bits of paper and such in a buttery encaustic texture.

Remember this......

The saga of Griffin and Sabine. I did have these books, however I seem to be missing many of my books..... could I have sent them off to the local used bookstore!!! I love this series. It was the early 90's and I was in awe of his use of vintage paper and postage. He is none other than Nick Bantock. Check him out.

My Dream house......

I have always dreamed of living on a farm or at least in a farmhouse. I used to babysit on farms as a teenager. I loved it ...... something about the sweet smell of hay mixed with the age of a simple life nearly lost in modern times.

I found this house in Country Living. I think it is in upstate NY. I love the Hudson Valley region so this would be perfect. Can you imagine flowers along the porch in the spring.... lovely.

Yes I now have an obsession with numbers and letters. I can not help myself. This was an interior found in Real Simple..... I love the large letter N. My vintage yellow letter B should be arriving soon. I will send you pics later.

I am in Love with clocks and watches...

I have recently found that I can do my vintage shopping online. Although I love the tactile aspect of going to antique places and digging until you find that treasure...... I love the convenience of finding it online. Especially when I have been stuck in the house with my kids due to the massive hit of snow storms!!

These lovely pieces are from Cool Vintage. Check them out!

A favorite.....

I love this print. This is by a new favorite artist of mine Danny Phillips. I love the layers his artwork has. It looks like wood , but I believe it is on paper. Now that I know how to link to the many artist I love and admire , I will be showing you more of my favorite things.
** My husband just got me a belated Valentine gift. It is a new camera. I love it.... I just have to figure out how to use it correctly. More on that to come.

Some new work

Remember when I showed you this piece in the beginning stages?

Well here it is in the middle stages. I have bit more work to do on it.

I love the all things associated with the sea. I have collections of shells and images of boats everywhere..... but let me tell you a secret...... I am terrified of open water. I could never go on a boat. I feel most comfortable at the shore just on the edge of the land, yet terrified of the next step . Psychiatrist out there have at it.

Another more spring like collage. I am so done with winter!

Here is an addition to a collage I showed earlier. A little fortune that everyone would love.

This piece is not quite finished ..... I need some flying birds in the sky of the window.

I wish it would rain!

Well, we are still under fire with snow. I think we will dig out later today. The collage below is
one I am still working on...... I think it needs some text . In any case , I really wish it would rain. I am up to my ears with snow!!!

I am going to get some creative time in today...... however the boys have been restless and I need to keep them busy.

Snow Snow and more Snow!!!!

Here in Maryland we are getting hit hard with the white stuff. We have barely dug out from the weekend storm ...... and today we are set to get hit again with another 12-18 inches!!!! Crazy!!

My boys proudly display their under snow hide out. You can not see the entry , but they worked very hard to dig this. Good job fellas!

This is a view from my basement door ....... I can not imagine what it will look like in the morning! I went to the grocery store yet again to stock up. I think the kids will be out of school for this week...... too bad they will have no spring break left! My son's winter boot ripped apart at the heel, poor guy. Do you think I could find a pair of snow boots???? Of course not! So we are using our resources...... duck tape!

Just finished this piece.

Still working on this one.

Here is one I am working on just for me....... but who knows, I might let someone else enjoy it.
If you are in the east coast area, bundle up and get ready!

More new work

Turns out I do not have a cold....... it is a combination of my reflux and allergies. They seem to be doing a number on my lungs and voice!!!!

A new more dimensional piece.

A little village under the earth.

These are now available at "The Muse".

What have I been up to.......

Well, aside from trying to get over this annoying cold ( not enough to keep me down , just enough to make it difficult!!!) I made over an antique dresser. It was in my apartment in college and I left my more modern dresser behind in exchange for this one. It used to have an old mirror attached however during many moves , it got destroyed. It was originally a dark oak color. I found it with a teal blue antique finish over the top. I have since put a white wash over it, and just recently added the draw fronts.

What do you think? I found the knobs at Micheal's for $1 each. They are soooo cute. I think it goes well with my window picture frame.

Some work in progress...... I was itching to do some more dimensional work.

I scanned a bunch of my vintage papers and then inverted the colors. I love the results.
It looks like 6 more weeks of winter......... and we have snow on the way.
